Community Guidelines
Last updated: November 4, 2026
NepLink is a place for Nepali students, alumni and Nepali Student Associations (NSAs) to help each other. These guidelines explain how we expect everyone to treat each other. They’re part of our Terms of Service and apply everywhere in NepLink, including chats, posts, events and anonymous posts.
Treat people with respect
- Don’t harass, threaten, bully or humiliate anyone.
- Don’t attack people for their caste, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, nationality or immigration status.
- Disagree with ideas, not with the person. If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop.
Keep people safe
- Don’t threaten or encourage violence, and don’t encourage anyone to harm themselves.
- Don’t post sexual content, and never post anything that sexualizes a minor.
- Don’t use NepLink to arrange anything illegal.
If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first. NepLink isn’t an emergency service.
Respect people’s privacy
- Don’t share someone’s phone number, address, immigration status, documents or private messages without their permission.
- Ask before posting a photo where someone is easy to recognize. If they ask you to take it down, take it down.
- Don’t record or screenshot private conversations to embarrass someone.
Anonymous posts
Features such as Confessions hide your name from other people, not from NepLink. Don’t use them to name, expose or spread rumors about private people. If you wouldn’t want it said about you, don’t post it.
Be honest
- Use your real identity, and don’t pretend to be someone else or to hold a role you don’t have.
- Don’t create fake events, listings, opportunities or accounts.
- Don’t send scams, spam or misleading links.
Money
- If you host an event or collect dues, describe clearly what people are paying for, and honor your refund policy.
- Use money collected through NepLink for what you said it was for.
- Don’t pressure or shame anyone about paying.
Housing, jobs and rides
- Keep listings accurate, and remove them when they’re no longer available.
- Never ask for money before someone has seen a place or confirmed a real offer.
- Airport pickups are free favors between members. If you’re a driver, hold a valid licence and insurance, and follow the law.
NSA leaders
- Use members’ information only to run your NSA. Don’t sell it, publish it or share it outside your board.
- Keep your NSA’s public page and forms accurate and respectful.
- Treat members fairly, and report serious problems to us rather than handling them alone.
Keep NepLink working
Don’t scrape NepLink, overload it, or try to get around its security or these rules.
If you see something wrong
You can report content and block people in the app. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours. People you report aren’t told who reported them.
What happens if someone breaks these guidelines
Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, warn the person, limit what they can do, or suspend or remove their account. We may also block them from coming back. In serious cases, we may contact the authorities.
If you think we got something wrong, email us and we’ll look at it again.
